So about 4 or so years ago, I decided to cut my hair. Yes, I decided to be the girl who has hair as short as a boy. I experimented with my short hair and had a blast, it was fun. . .I was FREE!
It wasn't easy though, it was something that I thought about for a while until I was just like "What the hell, I used to have short hair when I was younger, so why not!" SO, I cut it!
Here is the evolution of my hair thus far. . .
Long hair don't care curls
I think I was 16 or 17 in this picture. My hair was pretty long and pretty healthy I guess. I had it styled and curled for a fashion show for 17 magazine. . .so it looked really cute!
Curly Tops
This picture was taken, probably a few days after I cut my hair. I have curly roots and my hair was permed, so the top had pretty curls.
Spiky top
In this picture, my hair was a little more on the spiky side
Flat Top
Yes, I did do the flat top haircut.
More hair was cut on the sides than the top. It was pretty fun and I sure was the only person rocking the flat top at school...haha..High School.
The Jerry Curl?
Hahaha...No, this is not a legit Jerry curl, its just my curls. I would wash my hair in the morning and apply [a hair conditioner that I forgot the name of] and it held the hair in place I guess. So it looked like a Jerry curl...lol
The Afro
This one is more recent, about a year or two ago; just the regular natural Afro. Let me tell you though, it is hard to maintain a regular afro, if your hair isn't permed or mixed with something. But it's cute nonetheless, and I got lots of compliments for going "natural."
All the way short
This haircut was by far my favorite one! And if or when I cut my hair again, I will keep it this short. Short, fun, exciting, clean, unpredictable. . .yeah?
The perm: Re-growth
This is me this year, when I permed my hair again. It started off short and sweet but it go long really quick.
Long again, & back to the bun
Hahaha...This is my hair now, except it was in a bun. Ponytails are safe! And that's usually what I went for back in the day. But now, my hair is unpredictable; I do what I want!

So what was my reason in writing this post you ask?
Well, I kind of wanted to but there's more to it than that. I recently bought Lady Gaga's Born this way album, and yes I love Lady Monster! While listening to hair I was like, hmmm....I do want to live as free as my hair, and I have lived with a hairstyle that most didn't consider "feminine" until celebrities adopted it.
So I want to encourage whomever is reading this, to live free! It's okay to be yourself, try something new. be a rebel, be different. Stand out, look weird. But before all that YOU MUST KNOW YOURSELF!
Be comfortable in your skin. There nothing wrong with being into yourself, I mean, you've got to learn so you can know how to be into someone else, right?
LIVE. AS. FREE. AS. YOUR. HAIR. AS. FREE. AS. YOU. WANT!
